Bed Biscuit and Beyond, Inc. has strict behavioral and health standards; consequently, we conduct daycare evaluations in order to protect the overall health and well being of all our guests. The process begins with asking you to complete a questionnaire about your dog's likes and dislikes so we can determine if he/she will be happy in group play. You will be asked to provide proof of rabies, annual vaccinations and a bordetella vaccination (within the last 6 months) administered by a licensed veterinarian. Your dog should also be on a topical flea preventative such as Frontline or Advantage. For our safety and those of our guests, we do not accept any dog with a history of biting or aggression. However, we will gladly recommend a professional trainer should you have concerns with your dog.
ALL our guests must be spayed/neutered prior to turning one (1) year old. Our only exceptions to this policy are pedigreed dogs who are either working or active in show, titled but retired show dogs, or dogs with a doctor's note stating that sedation for spay or neuter would be life-threatening to the animal (i.e. heart defect).
“Show dog” is described as an active show dog with a working plan toward a Grand Champion title. The dog's show plan would be required, any completed legs toward the title, and registration to the shows according to the dog's plan. We also require documentation from a professional to the dog's quality of breeding, which states he/she is mentally and physically qualified for breeding, and documentation on why you plan to breed him. This may sound like a lot of trouble, but we think it's worth it.
We are happy to have the support of all the local animal shelters and rescue groups who think this is a step in the right direction! Please don't hesitate to call the office or email us if you have questions regarding this policy. |
